UX/UI Design

Design that starts with user research and ends in production-ready handoff. We build design systems, validate with real users, and ensure what gets shipped matches what was designed.

Research-grounded design that ships and converts.

  • Interfaces nobody needs a manual for
  • Design decisions validated with real users
  • A design system your developers ship from

The problem

Users struggle with your product, and every guess at why is expensive.

Many product problems that look like engineering problems are design problems: users cannot find a feature, a form asks for too much, a workflow makes sense to the people who built it and to nobody else. We start by watching people use the product, or the process it replaces, and design from what we see.

The work ends in something developers can build from: a tested prototype, a component library with rules for its use, and a specification precise enough that the shipped product matches the design.

What you receive

What a project produces.

  • A research summary

Interviews or observation of your users, with the findings written up in plain language.

  • Flows and wireframes

The structure of the product, screen by screen, before visual design begins.

  • An interactive prototype

A clickable version that you and your users can try before anything is built.

  • Usability testing

Sessions with real users on the prototype, with what we learned and what we changed.

  • A design system

Colours, type, components and rules kept in one library, so the product stays consistent as it grows.

  • Developer hand-off

Annotated designs and assets, and a review of the built product against the design.

How we approach it

The positions we take.

Research before pixels

We talk to users first. Designing from opinions produces expensive rework.

Prototype the difficult part first

The riskiest flow is tested early with real users, when changing it costs almost nothing.

Design and engineering together

Designers work with the developers building the product, so what is drawn can be built and what is built matches the drawing.

How it runs

Four steps, from the first call to hand-over.

  1. 1

    Research

We interview or observe the people who use the product today, and review what data exists on where they struggle. You receive a written summary and a fixed quote.

  2. 2

    Structure and flows

We map the product's structure and its main journeys, and agree them with you before any visual design.

  3. 3

    Prototype and test

A clickable prototype goes in front of real users. We revise it based on what they do, not on what they say they like.

  4. 4

    Design system and hand-off

The tested design becomes a documented component library, and we stay involved while your developers build it.

Is it a fit

When we are the right people, and when we are not.

A good fit

  • Users struggle, drop off or call support about things the product should make simple.
  • You are building something new and want to test the idea before paying for development.
  • You have a product that grew without design and now feels inconsistent.

Another route is better when

  • You need a brand identity, a logo or marketing illustration. This service covers product interfaces.
  • You want new colours and nothing else changed about how the product works.
  • We cannot reach any users, or anyone who knows them well.

What we ask on the first call

  • Who uses the product, and what are they trying to do?
  • What do they do today instead?
  • Where do users get stuck or leave?
  • What data do you have on that?
  • Who decides when the design is done?

Questions

About UX/UI Design & Product Strategy.

Something missing? Write to [email protected] and an engineer will answer.

Do you design for web and mobile?

Yes. We design interfaces for web applications, mobile apps and desktop tools.

Can you work with our developers?

Yes. We hand designs over in the format your team uses, and review their build against the design.

Do you do user testing?

Yes. We test prototypes with a small group of your real or representative users, and report what we find.

Will you use our brand guidelines?

Yes. If you have them, the design system builds on them. If you do not, we define the product's visual rules and document them.

Describe what you need.
